Jobs at RosterWise

Scientific Adviser: Sleep, Circadian Science & Fatigue Modelling

Part-time · Remote · Equity-based advisory role

About the opportunity

We are looking for a scientific adviser to help strengthen the evidence, assumptions and validation approach behind RosterWise’s fatigue intelligence.

You will review how sleep, circadian and fatigue research is translated into practical decision support. We want someone who can challenge the modelling, explain uncertainty and help ensure that our claims remain proportionate to the evidence.

RosterWise provides occupational risk decision support. Its outputs must not be presented as a medical or fitness assessment or as a guarantee of safety.

What you will help with

  • Review the scientific evidence underpinning the approach to sleep opportunity, circadian effects, fatigue and recovery.
  • Challenge model assumptions, scoring, thresholds and the treatment of uncertainty.
  • Review how the scientific approach is represented in calculations and product explanations.
  • Identify limitations, evidence gaps and situations where outputs require particular caution.
  • Shape a practical validation plan, including suitable datasets, evaluation methods and real-world research.
  • Review scientific wording and external claims so they accurately reflect the available evidence.
  • Help build relevant connections with researchers, universities and industry partners.

Who we would like to hear from

You should bring:

  • A PhD or equivalent research expertise in sleep science, chronobiology, human factors, mathematical biology, occupational health or a closely related field.
  • Experience developing, evaluating or validating quantitative models.
  • Relevant publications or applied research that demonstrate your expertise.
  • An ability to explain scientific uncertainty and limitations clearly.
  • An independent, constructive approach to reviewing assumptions and evidence.

Experience with shift work, mathematical fatigue models or occupational fatigue research would be particularly relevant.

What a useful contribution looks like

A clear assessment of the scientific approach, prioritised recommendations and a realistic validation roadmap. Any substantial initial review or research project will be scoped separately by agreement.
